Mishkahn D`avid means ” The Tabernacle of David” in Hebrew. When the L-rd released me to lead a Messianic Jewish congregation, He brought Amos 9:11 to my spirit. As I meditated on this scripture, I suddenly began to understand why G-d was calling me to lead a congregation with this unique name. Through the prophet Amos G-d said; ” On that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, and repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old;”
At first glance, this scripture didn’t make much sense. David was not allowed to build a Tabernacle (or Temple) for the L-rd. It was David’s son Solomon who was entrusted with the awesome task. So, what on earth was the L-rd saying in Amos 9:11, if David never built a Tabernacle for the L-rd? As the L-rd began to reveal to my spirit what He meant through Amos, the answer thrilled my spirit, delighted my soul, and caused my body to leap for joy. You see, when David returned the Ark of the covenant from enemy hands back to Jerusalem, he was not allowed to build a Temple, so he did the only thing he could do; he danced with all his might to the point of loosing his dignity as a King. Then he decorated a simple little “Sukkah”, a temporary shelter similar to the booths the Israelites put up during the Feast of Tabernacles. Every one, Jew or gentile, slave or free, rich or poor, could come worship and praise to the L-rd as they thanked Him for His Law (G-d’s Instructions for a good life), His loving kindness, His mercy, His salvation and so on… They all celebrated around the Law of G-d without being under its curse.
You see, Amos 9:11 speaks of a time when the Tabernacle of G-d will not be some fancy building put together by talented craftsmen, but the simple little “booths” (our bodies) in which the Law of G-d will abide, and all who come near will be filled with indescribable joy, everlasting freedom, and salvation in Yeshua (Jesus).
Ultimately, Yeshua is the example of this divine Tabernacle; a human vessel walking on earth, never offending the Law in so much as one point, perfectly connected with the Father, spreading the Kingdom of Heaven everywhere He went.
If you have ears to hear, you will understand. Perhaps you will also awaken to the revelation that Yeshua Himself was a foreshadow of the ultimate will of the Father; that He be multiplied into millions upon millions of human vessels carrying G-d’s salvation to the ends of the world until the whole earth is filled with His Glory.
As it is written:
“I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds…”
